Meet Couple #2 Jill & Mark
Once upon a time there was a little girl and little boy who moved from the bay area to the small town of Tracy. The year was 1984. The little boy and the little girl went to the same schools and even played on the same streets. They lived in the same neighborhood but their paths never crossed.
Fast forward to the year 2003. The little boy was now a man and was off to Iraq to fight for our country’s freedom at the beginning of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The little girl was now a young woman and was working on becoming an elementary school teacher. After receiving a bronze star medal, the young man returned to his hometown of Tracy. He then got a job as a firefighter. The young woman also moved back to Tracy and began her teaching career. Again, their paths didn’t cross.
Years passed and life’s ups and downs had them both feeling a little lonely and empty. They both had great careers, great friends and families, but no one to share these things with. One night the young man received a phone call from his friend. He wanted to know if he wanted to go out to dinner with him, his wife, and a “friend.” This friend was the young woman. The two men had been friends for years, the two women had been friends for years. Yet, their paths never crossed.
One night in January 2008, their paths finally crossed. This blind double date ended up changing both their lives. They both didn’t want the night to end. From that evening forward, they knew that they found the one person who would make their life complete.
After moving in together in 2009, they knew they would be married. She just didn’t know when and where to expect the proposal. On December 20, 2009 they were visiting beautiful Sonoma wine country. (One of their favorite past times!) After finding the perfect winery, he got down on one knee, and asked the woman to marry him. Of course she said yes! They knew that they were meant to be…they just needed to find each other at the right time. Now they’re never letting go!
We hope you’ve enjoyed our story. We keep finding commonalities and parallels in our lives every day. We wonder why we never met before that first date but we realize that we met at the perfect time. We can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives together.
